| Albany County Road& Bridge Laramie, Wyoming 82070 Dear Mike, I am writing this letter to inform you how pleased Albany County is with our FW Signing Trailer. We have had our signing trailer in service for approximately 18 months. It has not been out of service a single hour in this 18-month period. My crews are using this trailer for fence repairs, snow fence erection, and even sign erection and repair. I don't believe we have found all the uses for this trailer. I don't know how we functioned without this trailer. We have replaced an auger tractor, one stake truck and one trailer with this FW Signing Trailer. Hence, Albany County is saving money maintaining one piece of equipment instead of three separate pieces. We also have saved labor and time in sign installations with everything on one trailer instead of three separate pieces of equipment. Your product support is unequaled in my equipment world. You always have time to answer questions and provide good ideas. Thank you, Bradley Clingman Superintendent Albany County Road & Bridge |

Office of County Engineer Van Buren County Keosauqua, Iowa 52565 Dear Mike: Van Buren County has been using our FW Sign Trailer for approximately 8 weeks. The trailer has met our exceptions for increasing the efficiency of our signing operations, and utility of our existing equipment. We have initially attached to the concept of a sign trailer because it would allow us to use our existing vehicle as a power unit, this lowered our initial costs and still made this vehicle free for other used when not required for signing, a distinct advantage over units we had looked at that were permanently mounted on truck chassis. The trailers design provides ample sign and post storage in a convenient arrangement. Tool and misc. part storage are easily accessible from the operators platform. The trailer deck provides an abundant area for work since post storage is located between frame rails. The boom mounted auger is by far the fastest and safest method we have ever used for drilling post holes. The telescoping platform makes access to existing sign installations fast and vastly more safe than using ladders or steps that hook on to the posts. We believe that the use of the FW Sign Trailer will greatly improve the efficiency of our signing operation. This efficiency will come not only from lower equipment cost, but also, and more importantly, from making signing a safe and fast one man operation. Van Buren county is impressed with your commitment to your product, and your pledge to make our unit and all other units you build perform to the satisfaction of the owners and operators. Sincerely, Donald G. Pool, Assistant Engineer Van Buren County Highway Department |

Delaware County Secondary Road Department Delaware, Iowa 52036 Dear Rhonda: Our office is called the Delaware County Secondary Roads. We maintain 905 miles of road, and have over 4,500 signs. Our sign person is Bill Rossow who is responsible for all the signing operations. We purchased a Flannegan Western crane, auger and flatbed in the spring of 1992. Prior to this we used manual labor to dig holes. We mounted this equipment to a one ton dually pickup. The flatbed was equipped with hydraulic outriggers, ad the truck engine was fitted with a hydraulic pump to power the auger. We first looked at a number of crane-auger type systems. Other systems were center mounted limiting the reach of the auger onto the fore slope. Other cranes were just too short to obtain the needed reach. Of course signs along the back slopes by fences cannot be reached. When we maintain the street name signs in 1994, we will use a sign post driver that is hydraulic and will be powered by the same sigh truck unit obtained from Flannegan Western. The crane-auger is easy to operate and even drills holes through frost for sign post replacement in the winter. Service and maintenance are minimal. Labor costs have been reduced by approximately $6,000 per year because we have not had to hire part-time employees to assist the sigh person. In fact, the sign person now even has time to plow snow, cut brush, and do other routine road maintenance. Another consideration is lessening the exposure of workmen's compensation of back injuries by letting the machine do the work of the man's back. The only drawback is the underground utilities within the right-of-way. Any machine is more likely to dig through a utility line than a person digging manually. So on each new sign location we call One-Call before digging operations begin. We feel within three years the sign auger will pay for itself, and we are very satisfied with Flannegan Western & Associates for sales and service. Sincerely, Brain T. Ridenour County Engineer |
